The First Years Childcare

Daily Outline
The daily outline for routines and activities is flexible, based on
children's interest , moods, ability and weather conditions. The following outline provides a guideline for parents and allows a general understanding of the child's day.
Learning Activities: Children learn through their senses , repetition, work and play. I will tap into the natural abilities of each child by teaching through different learning theories. The children are given opportunities to learn through group time, pictures, songs, books, blocks, sensory play, dramatic play experiences, art, puzzles, outdoor play and so much more. Children are free to choose activities that interest them and are encouraged to try all learning theories. I will use intentional conversation throughout the day to promote learning and conversation skills. We will work together to help prepare your child for the transition into school.
Group Time: We use this time to gather together and take a break from our busy morning fun. Group time may include, rhymes, stories, games, songs all designed to help teach letters, numbers, shapes and colours. We end each group time with a snuggle sandwich (a must see) kids absolutely love this part of our day.
Arts/Sensory: Activities are carefully planned to promote individual creative expression while focusing on small fine motor development. Art activities will be guided to promote the safe/proper use of crafting materials, older children will have more opportunity to use crafting materials freely the year prior to starting school.
Self-Help-Skills: Children are encouraged to try things on their own and to develop responsibility for their own supplies and actions. Children assist in clean up and organizing classroom materials and equipment to foster cooperation. Children are encouraged to try and get dressed for outdoor play time with assistance, even if they put their shoes on the wrong feet to start off with, we will celebrate each new step building confidence in the child.
Hand on Experience: Children are involved a variety of concrete learning experiences such as being water helper at meal and snack times, setting and clearing the table after meals and helping each other throughout the day during various daily activities.
